Hi Deerhaven Residents!
This 2016 Spring season marks the 13th year that the Pavilion Park Parties, which are open to all residents, have been taking place in Deerhaven Park! The parties started out in 2003 when a small group of enthusiastic ladies put together the details and helped stage the five parties every succeeding spring and fall since then, including the Christmas parties. The number in this committee has grown to around ten and these ladies have consistently planned and made the parties for the Deerhaven residents an overall success every year. They have each done a wonderful job!
I know I speak for the group when I say that we feel that the parties have been most helpful in uniting all those who have attended them with a bond of camaraderie and friendship as residents in this special neighborhood in which we have been so blessed to be a part! They have enabled us to meet new residents and we all have grown to know each other so much better than we did before the parties started. In addition, we have had lots of fun in doing so!!
In 2012 we decided to limit the number of parties to one in the spring (April) and one in the fall (October). The May party always seemed to conflict with the Memorial Day weekend and the weather for the September party is usually too summerlike. We still plan to have the Christmas party, either at the Blue Lake Community Center or in someone’s home. Last year’s Deerhaven Christmas Party at the Blue Lake Center was outstanding.
Also, we would love to see new members join the committee, as several of the current members are dropping out either for health, family or other reasons. We invite any of you ladies (or gents) to supplement the committee membership by joining us. The responsibilities are not that involved but we do need some fresh ideas, energy and enthusiasm to keep our project.going. Also, it’s not necessary to attend every party to take part in the committee.
Please consider joining us if you have a little extra time or interest in helping. We rarely meet, maybe once or twice a year, as we have the routine down pretty smooth. However any new ideas would be very welcome in changing the routine or format, dates or time of the parties.
Looking forward to hearing from any of you who would enjoy joining us on the party committee. We really do need you! Do feel free to share any suggestions or comments with all of us. It’s a fun committee to be a part of.
Current committee members:
Sandi Becraft, Martha Burt, Martha Duffin, Sue Nichols, Alice Rudenstein, Dee Westbrook, and Diane Wuest. Lois Burgess serves as treasurer, but not as a regular committee member.
