DEERHAVEN WATER CONTROL & IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
A Water Control & Improvement District is a political subdivision endowed with the functions, powers, authority, rights, and duties that will permit it to accomplish the purposes for which it was created. On March 1, 2006, the Deerhaven Water Control & Improvement District was created by the Llano County Commissioners Court and subsequently approved by the voters of Deerhaven for the purpose of providing fire-fighting services and providing for the purchase, distribution and management of water for domestic use within the Deerhaven subdivision.
The District contracts with the City of Horseshoe Bay for fire-fighting services and for supplying treated water The District receives funding to pay for these services from ad valorem taxes on Deerhaven properties and from water use charges.
The District is governed by an elected five member Board of Directors. Every Director serves a four year term beginning November 1. All members of the Board of Directors must be a Deerhaven property owner.
