To all that have called and/or sent messages of concern ……
After 22 days of exceptional care at Seton Hospital and Central Texas Rehab Hospital in Austin following a spinal laminectomy, Ol' Bob has made it back to his home on the range in good shape and without pain. He's still a little wobbly, and uses a walker but is doing a lot better today than any day since or before the surgery.
He's now sleeping in his own bed for a change and snoozing away contentedly. It will take a while to get his strength back but after several weeks of rest and doing some prescribed therapy and walking he is looking forward to a much brighter future than he did for many months. Of course he is impatient to get up and going again so my job will be to make sure he takes the correct amount of time to recuperate. My work is cut out for me. I'm sure you understand, knowing Bob.
Thanks again for your concern and your prayers. It has meant a great deal to us!
Martha and Bob
Whilst in rehab Bob met Earl Campbell, The Tyler Rose who was a Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Texas in 1977 and who went on to play in professional football with the Houston Oilers. Earl had a knee replacement and his room was right down the hall from Bob's room on the 8th floor of the Central Texas Rehab Hospital in Austin the last week he was there.
